With more than 20 years of experience as a strategy consultant and retail executive, Ken has worked with many of the world's leading brands. He provides retailers, consumer product companies and fashion brands with strategic planning, brand management, consumer insight, strategic marketing, and merchandising solutions.
Before recently founding Black Dog, Ken had been an independent consultant since 2003. He implemented strategy, brand growth and marketing projects for American Greetings, Christie's, Coach, Blue Tulip, dressbarn, LexisNexis, Liz Claiborne, Marchon Eyewear, OshKosh B'Gosh and Pacific Sunwear. Ken has also assisted several private equity firms in evaluating acquisition candidates. Ken is also a co-founder of and consultant to Jule, a chain of women's fashion accessories boutiques headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
Prior to consulting, Ken served as Vice President of Brand Planning for Limited Brands, where he led the strategic and brand management process for Express, the corporation's $1.8 billion apparel brand. His management of the brand process, which involved both corporate and business unit leaderships, resulted in sustained revenue and profit growth — and increased brand equity among Express' target customers. As Director of Business Planning for Limited Brands, he developed and managed the corporation's annual long-range planning process and pushed the growth agendas for the portfolio of businesses, including Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works. He developed business plans for strategic merchandise categories and new business initiatives including Aura Science (a joint venture between Limited Brands and Shiseido), and helped manage the merger of Structure into the Express brand.
Before joining Limited Brands, Ken served as a strategy consultant for Strategic Planning Associates (now Mercer Management Consulting) and PWC/Management Horizons (now Retail Forward), where he worked with clients such as AT&T, Ann Taylor, Blockbuster, Disney Consumer Products, Hartmarx, Makro SHV, Mother's Work, Nike, Pepsi, Phillips Media, Procter & Gamble, Shell Canada, Telefonos de Mexico and Wrigley.
Ken holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Yale University and an M.B.A. in Business Policy and Marketing Management from The Wharton School.
